Our History

"Why the name Gallery Central?" you ask.  Well, I'll tell you!  Hector Amaya first opened Gallery Central on Central Expressway at Henderson in the mid-eighties.
He moved to the Skillman location (corner of Skillman and Oram) in 1991.  That is where, he crossed paths with the lovely and talented Steffanie Smith.  At that time, Steffanie was managing Steffan Studio, her dad's portrait studio that had been a Lakewood mainstay for many years.
After closing the Studio in the late nineties, Steffanie allowed herself to be persuaded by Hector to come work for him at Gallery Central.  Since they were such good friends, it was a seamless transition--and they continued working together happily until Hector moved to the Texas wine country several years ago.
Steffanie stepped in as owner of Gallery Central and has been maintaining the same level of top quality craftsmanship and great customer service ever since.  And she's been having lots of fun along the way!
Due to the change in shopping center ownership, Gallery Central moved from its   23-year corner location to 1918 Skillman, which is in the same building but in the back (behind Sunstone Yoga) by the new Chip's.  The phone number is the same, 214/827-3431.
Hector's brother, Caesar, is with Gallery Central, as he has been for over 20 years.  He manages a Gallery Central framing showroom on Dragon Street in the Dallas Design District.  He can be reached at 214/280-5155.
Both locations are open all week and any time by appointment.  Gallery Central is always ready to take care of all your framing and art restoration needs--so come in soon!
